Experiences in Lauerz
This idyllic farming village by Lake Lauerz at the foot of Mount Rigi is popular with holidaymakers – and for good reason.
HIKING IN LAUERZ
Lauerz has a diverse and extensive hiking trail network, which even includes part of the famous Swiss Path. The trails are also suitable for children, particularly the route from Lauerz to the Goldau Zoo. In addition to the regular hiking trails, there’s a selection of particularly beautiful routes that wind their way through the Lake Lauerz-Sägel-Schutt nature reserve. When hiking through the reserve, it is especially important to stay on the marked paths.
LAKE LAUERZ MOORLANDS
The landscape between Goldau and Seewen is a patchwork of breathtaking moorlands, low-lying wetlands, protected areas and amphibian spawning grounds. This rich variety of habitats developed after Switzerland’s largest ever landslide ravaged the region in 1806, creating a landscape interspersed with dry hills and moist lowlands. Wildlife watchers will find not only many species of reptiles and insects in this unique nature reserve, but also rare plants and the breeding grounds of various birds.
LAKE LAUERZ SWIMMING AREA
The Badi Lauerz is located directly on the Lauerzersee. The Badi-Wägeli helps with small hunger, and guests are also invited to use the barbecue area. The lakeside bathing area can be used free of charge and is a meeting place for families.
