Carefree over the Rigi
Towing equipment and wheelchair rental
MOBILITY LIFTS AT THE RAILWAY STATIONS
The Rigi railways use access and exit ramps, and wherever technically possible, mobility lifts, which makes boarding and exiting much easier.
ACCESS TO THE CABLE CARS
Alongside both cogwheel railways, there are seven cable cars which open up different altitudes on Mount Rigi. The Weggis – Rigi Kaltbad cable car is handicapped-accessible (with an accompanying helper). The other railways (Goldau/Kräbel – Scheidegg, Obergschwend – Burggeist, Küssnacht – Seebodenalp, Vitznau – Hinterbergen, Vitznau – Wissfluh and Brunnen – Urmiberg) do not meet, or only partially meet, the requirements. An accompanying person is required. Please enquire directly with the mountain railways.
WHEELCHAIR-ACCESSIBLE TOILET ON THE PANORAMA ROUTE
The entire panorama route between Rigi Scheidegg and Rigi Kaltbad/Chänzeli covers 7.5 km. At the elevation of Unterstetten, there is now a new handicapped-accessible toilet. It is located at the rest area.
E-HANDICAPPED BUS
Thanks to the support of the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation and other sponsors, a wheelchair-suitable electric bus with space for two wheelchairs has been available on Mount Rigi since June 2017.
TOWING EQUIPMENT AND WHEELCHAIR RENTAL
At the Rigi Kaltbad service centre, two wheelchairs and two sets of towing equipment can be rented over the summer as well as one wheelchair and one set of towing equipment at cable car station Rigi Scheidegg. During autumn and spring it is not possible to rent the wheelchair. If you want to rent them you need to reserve it in advanced (24h) at the Rigi guest service +41 41 399 87 87, welcome@rigi.ch
