Arrival by car

In Vitznau there are two covered car parks. One at the Seestrasse, from there it's a 100m walk to the Rigi Bahnen valley station. The other car park is located at the Altdorfbachweg. From there, it's a 250 m walk to the Rigi Bahn valley station.

    If you lose your parking ticket you will need to pay CHF 80.00 at the ticket machine to obtain a car park exit pass. Upon presentation of the original receipt, the amount will be refunded minus the parking fee and a CHF 10.00 surcharge.

    The monthly ticket is only available for residents of the Rigi or house owners on Mount Rigi.CHF 60.00

    New monthly tickets or extended tickets can be recollected in Vitznau the following day. New cards can be pre-ordered in advance by e-mail with the following information: surname, first name, address, telephone number and vehicle number.

    The deposit fee for parking cards is CHF 20.00.

    There is no guarantee of a free parking space for holders of monthly parking permits.

  • Only owners of a 365 day pass can buy the card. The debit card is the most convenient way for frequent visitors to Mt. Rigi to pay for short-term parking. When you purchase a debit card, you'll automatically receive a parking discount of 20%. (For example: a debit card worth CHF 200.00 comes with CHF 250.00 worth of parking credit.)

    • Maximum debit card balance: CHF 250.00.
    • Debit card validity: unlimited in the parking Altdorfbachweg

    Debit cards can be purchased from the ticket counter in Vitznau. The cards can be topped up either at the ticket counter or using the car park ticket machines.

Arrival by Bus / Boat

Getting to the Vitznau station by public transport is easy and helps to protect the environment.

  • Bus no. 502 with connections from Schwyz, Brunnen, Gersau, Weggis and Küssnacht.

  • Regular boats run from Lucerne (60 min) and other towns on Lake Lucerne. After arriving at the Vitznau pier, it's a 50 m walk to the Rigi Bahn valley station.
    The boat to Vitznau is part of the Majestic Round Trip and the Classic Rigi Round Trip.
